Onions are a root vegetable with a greenish-white, light yellow, or white inside. They have layers of papery skin with a yellow-brown or pale golden colour. Onions are higher in sulphur content than the white onion, which gives them a stronger, more complex flavour. There are a dozen varieties of yellow onion, each of which is grown at a different time of year.
